Councillor Greg Peacock was pleased to see this week that the work to refresh the lettering on the South Hylton cenotaph has been completed.
Following the Remembrance Parade last November Greg was asked by the team that look after the cenotaph throughout the year if the letters could be reattached as some were beginning to come away from the stonework. Greg initially asked if they could be engraved, but was advised by council officers this was not possible so instead they have been secured and all letters re-coated.
Greg said
“These brave souls gave their lives defending our country and we will remember them always!”
If you have any queries regarding your local cenotaph or memorial you can report directly to your local ward Councillor and they will take the necessary action.
