Sunderland's Antony Mullen has been elected Chairman of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear Conservatives.
Antony was elected by Conservatives from across the area last week.
This new role will see Antony Mullen support Conservative candidates and officers across Sunderland, Tyneside and Northumberland.
Antony Mullen has been the Chairman in Sunderland since 2019. Prior to that, Antony was the Deputy Chairman (Political) of the Association.
In 2018, Antony was elected Councillor for Barnes Ward. He was Deputy Leader of the Conservatives on Sunderland City Council from 2019-20. In 2020, Antony was elected Leader.
Antony has confirmed his intention to step down as Chairman of Sunderland Conservatives in 2021.
Antony said:
"I am pleased to have been elected Chairman of the Area.
"I look forward to working with colleagues across Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead, Tyneside and Northumberland.
"The area represents a key part of the blue wall and winning here is central to getting a majority at the next general election.
"Colleagues across the area have shown the difference Conservatives in local government can make.
"I am looking forward to getting more of our candidates elected in 2021".
