Commenting on the suspension of former Mayor and Hendon Ward Councillor, Lynda Scanlan, from the Labour Group on Sunderland City Council, Conservative Leader Antony Mullen said:
The fact that a distinguished businesswoman and former Mayor who is respected across the chamber no longer has a place in Sunderland Labour under its current leadership tells you all you need to know about it.
While Labour actively shuns moderate voters in our city who are sceptical of Graeme Miller’s leadership, the Conservative Party welcomes them.
