Cllr Lynn Vera, Cllr Josh McKeith and Cllr Sam Johnston have criticised Sunderland City Council’s preparation for this weekend’s British Triathlon event.
Cllr Josh McKeith commented:
“The Council did not do enough to properly prepare for this event.
“It was a great spectacle but residents are rightly upset that communication with them from the Council’s Events Team has been poor and that not enough thought has gone into how vulnerable residents, such as those with carers, could be accessed with the road closures.
“To help with parking, I spoke to the University of Sunderland, who have confirmed that their facility at St. Peter’s Campus will be open and available for use. However residents are rightly concerned and upset that they were left in the dark."
