In response to local resident concerns and their own observations, the St Michael's Ward Conservatives have requested a speed survey of traffic travelling up and down Strawberry Bank, now that the Vehicle Activated warning sign has been re-located.
A speed survey is when the Council uses data to record and measure how fast cars are going on a given road, and what the average speed is.
If the Council officers find that there is a pattern of speeding on Strawberry Bank, it will be much easier for local residents and for Councillors to get speed calming measures in place.
Speed surveys for example helped the local councillors secure the upcoming fixed speed camera on Essen Way.
Commenting on this Cllr Reed said:
" The Council is regrettably very stubborn when it comes speeding, prefering to do nothing when residents and councillors tell them that there are concerns on certain roads. Who knows the speeding issues better than local residents?
"Strawberry Bank is a road that we have worked hard to make safer. This current step is one we hope will make some progress to make the bank safer."
