Sunderland's Conservatives were the biggest victors at the 2021 local elections, gaining six new seats from Labour.
These gains secured our position as the city's main opposition to Labour. At the Group's 2021 AGM, the following members were appointed to the Shadow Cabinet:
Leader of the Opposition - Cllr Dr Antony Mullen
Deputy Leader and Shadow Housing and Regeneration - Cllr James Doyle
Shadow Cabinet Secretary -
Chief Whip and Scrutiny Co-ordinator - Cllr Michael Hartnack
Shadow Children, Learning and Skills - Cllr Joshua McKeith
Shadow Health, Mental Wellbeing and Social Care - Cllr Dominic McDonough
Shadow Communities and Culture - Cllr Helen Greener
Shadow Environment and Transport - Cllr Greg Peacock
These councillors take responsibility for shaping our policies relating to their brief and for leading the scrutiny of the Labour-run Council in these areas.
