Sunderland Conservatives' Leader, Cllr Antony Mullen, has condemned Labour's hypocrisy in calling for three ex-UKIP councillors to resign.
In a press release issued today (17th August), Sunderland Labour demanded the resignations of Cllrs Mann, Bewick and Jenkins, who left UKIP after deciding their former party had lost its mandate to be represented on the Council at this year's local elections.
In response to Labour's call for Sunderland three ex-UKIP councillors to resign, Conservative Leader Cllr Mullen said:
"Labour's demand for these resignations is totally shameless and riddled with hypocrisy.
"It has called on three Independent councillors to resign for leaving their party of their own free will, but it made no public demands of this kind for their former councillor and convicted paedophile Paul Middleton to resign when he was forced to leave Labour.
"Why should it be one rule for these councillors but another for ex-Labour councillors?"
